Matthew 2:1-12 - Gifts for the King
In Matthew 2:1–12, the Magi offer a powerful picture of what it means to truly seek and respond to Jesus. These wise men from the East, likely Gentile scholars or astrologers, followed the signs of the heavens with sincere hearts, embarking on a long and costly journey in pursuit of the newborn King. Their story illustrates the biblical call to seek Jesus with diligence, to find Him through God's divine guidance, to worship Him in humility and reverence, and to give sacrificially in response to His worth. The gold, frankincense, and myrrh they brought symbolize both honor and recognition of Jesus’ identity as King, God, and Savior. Their journey reminds us that true worship begins with a heart that earnestly seeks Christ, rejoices in His presence, and responds with joyful, generous devotion.
