Matthew 8:14-17 The Authority that Restores
In this powerful passage from the Gospel of Matthew 8:14–17, we see the compassionate authority of Jesus on full display. He enters a home, touches the sick, lifts the weak, and restores what was broken—completely and immediately.
This sermon explores not only how Jesus has authority over disease, but also how He uses that authority with purpose and compassion. From Peter’s mother-in-law being raised up to serve, to crowds being healed and delivered, every moment points to something deeper: restoration is not random—it’s rooted in who Jesus is.
We also see the fulfillment of prophecy from the Book of Isaiah, reminding us that this is not just power—it’s promised power. Jesus bears our sicknesses and carries our burdens, revealing a Savior who steps into our brokenness, not away from it.
This message challenges us to consider:
- Do we see Jesus only as powerful, or also as compassionate?
- Are we willing to be restored not just physically, but fully?
- And once restored… will we rise and serve?
Jesus still restores today—not always in the ways we expect, but always in ways that reveal His authority, His mission, and His heart.
